United Community Health Center Groundbreaking Ceremony

United Community Health Center in Storm Lake, Iowa will host a groundbreaking ceremony at the new construction site of 715 West Milwaukee (the intersection of Vestal and West Milwaukee) in Storm Lake on Thursday, August 7 at 1:30 p.m.

Tom HarkinFeatured keynote speaker for the event will be Senator Tom Harkin.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony and groundbreaking event.
United Community Health Center in partnership with the City of Storm Lake was awarded a $600,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to launch funding for the new facility. The health center received a $600,000 direct loan from the United States Department of Agriculture and a $400,000 guaranteed loan from USDA through Central Bank in Storm Lake. Senator Harkin obtained a $150,000 equipment grant for United Community Health Center which was awarded in July.

The new medical and dental facility features 7,416 sq. ft with potential future expansion to 9,000 sq. ft. Shive-Hattery of Des Moines is the architectural firm managing the project. A general contractor will be identified by the end of August.

In case of inclement weather the groundbreaking event will be relocated to Chautauqua Park Shelter House, Storm Lake.
