FREE Tobacco Cessation Program continues at United Community Health Center


To assist Iowa residents with quitting tobacco the Iowa Public Health Grant funds a Tobacco Cessation program and reimburses United Community Health Center for administration.

Patients receive counseling and a prescription for up to a 24-week course of pharmaceautical treatment including the popular stop smoking medications Chantix® and Zyban®.

This program provides free medications and counseling every two weeks for up to 24 weeks to help Iowan’s quit using tobacco.

In order to participate, patients must agree to receive counseling and take medication. Medication and counseling combined have proven to produce the greatest success rate for quitting tobacco use.

Eligibility Guidelines for Tobacco Cessation Program:

  1. Older than 18 years
  2. Medication & counseling required
  3. Must be an Iowa Resident
  4. Must sign consent form to receive follow up call from Iowa Public Health
